Why is this poster so sought after?
In recent years this poster has become more and more sought after as more people discover it. Back in Wartime, the bright & simple design was devised to convey the authoritively reassuring message very effectively. It was thought that the posters would help reduce panic if a land invasion by the Nazi's took place. The message was designed to have a physiologically effect of reassurance from the King..."Try to stay calm and carry on as normal".
Although Wartime was over 65 years ago, the poster is still good advice for today's hectic lifestyle and troubled times and that's probably the reason why this poster is becoming so sought after! Get yourself a great morale booster and a piece of history today!.
"A poster that perfectly captures the British stiff upper lip!"

History of the Keep Calm and Carry On Poster
The 'Keep Calm and Carry On' poster (third poster in a series of 3) was intended as a "last case scenario" to be used only after a severe air-raid or if the Nazis succeed in invading Great Britain. Two-and-a-half million copies were printed, although the poster was distributed only in limited numbers.
Planning for the posters started in April 1939, by June designs were prepared, and by August 1939, they were on their way to the printers, to be placed up within 24 hours of the outbreak of war. The posters were designed to have a uniform device, be a design associated with the Ministry of Information, have a unique and recognisable typography, with a message from the King to his people. The slogans were created by civil servants, with Waterfield coming up with "Your Courage" as "a rallying war-cry that will bring out the best in everyone of us and put us in an offensive mood at once". These particular posters were designed as "a statement of the duty of the individual citizen", un-pictorial, to be accompanied by more colloquial designs.
Initially 5 designs where planned but only 3 where printed. The first poster of the 3 was "Your Courage, Your Cheerfulness, Your Resolution Will Bring Us Victory" (800,000 printed).
"Freedom is in Peril" (400,000 printed) poster was the second design of the Ministry of Information's posters.
