Created by the The Ministry of Agriculture during world war 2, 'Dig on for Victory' is one of the most memorable slogans on the Home Front during the second world war.
The import of food was now very difficult as German U-boats hunted down and sunk merchant ships heading for Britain. The only option was to increase the growing of food on the home front. People across Britain were encouraged to grow vegetables & fruit in thier gardens and land that they owned. Within a few months, across Britain, food was growing everywhere, in private gardens, flowerbeds, even in the local parks!.
